Printing the globe portion of the "Empty Suit" sculpture
In order to get a 12" tall globe surround for the "Empty Suit", I needed to find a larger resin printer. I looked at online print-on-demand services to see about getting this part printed and mailed to me, but the cheapest quote I found was around $220! Luckily, I have a friend who has a really large resin printer!! Thanks to Frankie Flood for letting me borrow his printer to make this part in one piece. I really wanted to avoid slicing this part because, it being clear, any seam would be noticeable and distracting. I was very fortunate that this part just barely fit within the print volume of his Anycubic Photon M3 Max.
I was prepared for failures, as it seems that large resin prints tend to be difficult. It was a 30 hour print, and I checked on it around the 27 hour mark, and it appears that it's printing perfectly!! I took some video of it printing. I've never seen the light being exposed as a print is developing before. Because this resin is clear, you can see the very blue light shining up through the previous layers. It's probably not so good for my eyes to do this!
