Upright Spinal-Like Cocoon with Slate

In this sketch, I'm thinking of growth, with a gentle, but jarring contrast between opposing forms , textures, and structures. The rhythm of the ribbed form creates segmentation, and suggest incremental upward formation. This pattern and structure also resembles that of a cocoon. An emphasis will be on the contrast between patterns and textures that appear to abruptly bisect this form, yet creates stability and balance. Volume / Plane, Hollow / Solid, Delicate (skin-like) / Hard-Edge (rigid).
